On 15 – 23 July 2017, Hubert Zobel, President of the Management Board of WRDF, invited by the Marshal Office of the Wielkopolska Region, represented WFR on an economic mission to Colombia. The delegation from Wielkopolska led by Marshal Marek Woźniak was composed of the rectors of Adam Mickiewicz University and Poznan University of Technology, the director of the Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants and representatives of companies that won the i-Wielkopolska. Innovative for Wielkopolska contest.
The aim of the visit was to start cooperation with the Colombian Santander Region, gather information about the Colombian market and the chances for products from Wielkopolska to become successful and promote Wielkopolska.
During the visit to Bogota the delegation had meetings with representatives of Colombian Ministries of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Agriculture and Rural Development, Environment, Housing, Territorial Development and Foreign Affairs. Additionally, there were discussions concerning economic cooperation with the ProColombia organisation, the Chamber of Commerce in Bogota and Corferias fair organisers. The meeting in the Office of the Governor of the Cundinamarca Department, where both regions expressed their will to deepen further cooperation, was a very important item of the agenda.
